ICEA will join the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics for the XXIV FIGO World Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 9 -12 October 2023. Tara VanDyke, ICEA board member, will represent ICEA at the conference. 

The FIGO World Congress brings together professional societies of obstetricians and gynecologists globally. More than 130 countries and territories are represented within the International Federation. This World Congress is the field’s leading and largest global event, with more than 8,000 delegates attending. The conference will focus on women’s health, rights, and social equity. FIGO is a founding member of the International Childbirth Initiative, an initiative ICEA proudly endorses.

Tara hopes to ” increase understanding of the role, scope, & benefits of doula support” and “enhance and initiate relationships between medical providers and doulas” through this conference. As one of only four doula groups attending, Tara has been working hard alongside Debbie Mitchell, a representative from the European Doula Network, to compile evidence-based research to give healthcare providers on the importance of doulas.
