Continuing Education Credits Proposal Criteria and Requirements

Before submitting your proposal in the required format, please review the criteria to ensure your subject matter meets ICEA's requirements.

Once applications are received, please allow up to 30 days for processing and review.

Topics must be relevant and within the scope of practice for childbirth educators (CBE) and doulas.
Research topics outside the immediate scope may be considered if they provide valuable information for CBEs or doulas but are not automatically accepted.
Up to four hours of content not directly related to the perinatal period, such as mindfulness, adult education, and public health, may be accepted when submitted for recertification.

Provide session titles, time allotments, speaker names, credentials, and content descriptions.
No single teaching objective should exceed 1.5 hours.
Sessions must be structured into appropriate segments (e.g., a five-hour class must be divided into at least three objectives).
- Example: “Objective: The learner will understand and demonstrate three comfort measures for back labor. This will be achieved through PowerPoint, videos, demonstrations, and return demonstrations. Duration: 1 hour.”
