As June arrives and summer begins, many of us find ourselves spending more time with family and friends. Whether gathering for vacations, cookouts, reunions, or simply enjoying a beautiful afternoon outdoors, this season reminds us of the importance of connection and the memories we create together. 

Last weekend, I spent some time at a local lake and was struck by the number of families enjoying the day together. There were grandparents watching grandchildren play, parents carrying babies, and siblings splashing in the water. Looking around, I was reminded that some of life’s most meaningful moments are often the simplest ones—time spent together and making memories that last for years to come. 

Every family has a story, and for many, one of the most important chapters begins with the arrival of a new baby. Pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period are times of anticipation, excitement, and change. There are also times when support, education, and compassionate guidance can make a lasting difference. 

That is where ICEA’s Certified Professionals play such an important role. 

Every day, ICEA Childbirth Educators, Birth Doulas, and Postpartum Doulas help growing families navigate these transitions with confidence. Through evidence-based education, emotional support, and practical guidance, they empower families to make informed decisions and create positive birth experiences. 

While families may not remember every detail of a class or consultation, they often remember how they felt—supported, respected, informed, and cared for. The impact of your work extends far beyond birth and becomes part of a family’s story for years to come. 

I also look forward to connecting with many of you at the ICEA Conference in Salt Lake City this October. Our conference is an opportunity to learn, share experiences, and strengthen the community that supports families around the world.
