Collaboration and Networking: Accomplishing Goal #4
by Bonita Katz, BA RN ICCE ICBD IAT CLC
Several years ago, ICEA’s Board of Directors renewed our commitment to family-centered, evidence-based care by adopting new vision and mission statements. To support those statements, we established five goals. These goals focus our efforts so that we take concrete steps toward accomplishing our mission and vision.
The fourth goal listed states that ICEA will “Promote evidence-based options in maternal child health through collaboration and networking.” In the past several months, we have been building relationships with other organizations so that we can offer additional benefits to our certified professionals.
Lactation Education Resources provides comprehensive online lactation consultant training for those who wish to become eligible for IBCLC certification and others who want to increase their knowledge of breastfeeding. They are dedicated to providing high quality online lactation management training and innovative educational materials for professionals.
If you are interested in advancing your knowledge of lactation and improving your ability to help new mothers, take a look at their educational offerings. When you take a course from LER and use the ICEA2019, 10% of your cost will be credited to ICEA.
Are you looking for tools to help your clients think through the many decisions they face during their childbearing years? Are you looking for tools to help you better communicate with your clients? Check out Motherboard Birth. These materials provide excellent graphics, beautiful photos, and insightful questions.
When you sign up for a Partner Membership with Motherboard Birth, 15% of the fee will be donated to ICEA’s scholarship fund. Additionally, you will receive a 10% discount for teaching materials when using the code ICEA2019 and a 10% discount for parent memberships using the code ICEAPARENT.
Keep an eye out for a new educator toolkit that ICEA is working on in conjunction with Childbirth Graphics. You’ll see an announcement online when all the details are finalized.
An enthusiastic and grateful shout out to ICEA Board Members Dena Marchiony and Michelle Hardy for making these connections happen! Their networking efforts have reaped some solid benefits for ICEA certified professionals.
As you make use of these opportunities, drop me a quick note and let me know what you think. We are working hard to develop even more benefits for you and we value your feedback.
And now, I have a favor to ask. When you post on social media – especially if you are sharing an article or information about ICEA – please tag ICEA with @ICEApage on Facebook and with @ICEA_org on Twitter.
Increasing the visibility of ICEA in this way is good for all of us. With its long history and consistent message of family-centered care and informed decision-making, ICEA is an organization to be proud of. Thank you for helping to spread the word!
The International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA) is a professional organization that supports educators and health care professionals who believe in freedom to make decisions based on knowledge of alternatives in family-centered maternity and newborn care.
