1:00-2:00pm When Education Isn’t Enough: Childbirth Education in an Unequal System
Ginny is a maternal–child health professional, childbirth educator, and policy leader with over 12 years of experience across labor and delivery, community health, and public health education. She is a Labor & Delivery nurse and a Maternal & Child Health graduate student at the George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health, where her work focuses on reproductive justice, health equity, and the impact of policy design on maternal health outcomes.
Ginny currently serves as Director of Public Policy for the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA), where she leads the development of national policy guidance and evidence-informed messaging for educators and perinatal professionals. She is also a co-founder of The Women’s Well, LLC, a community-based maternal health organization focused on culturally responsive education and trust-centered care.
Her work centers on the intersection of childbirth education, lived experience, and structural inequities—examining how systems, access, and policy contexts shape what birthing people can realistically experience. Ginny is passionate about supporting educators in delivering childbirth education that is both empowering and honest.
