3:30-4:30pm Newborn Care Procedures: Current Trends and Elevating Parent Preparation

Charla is a public health professional, perinatal educator, and doula from Spokane, Washington, where she lives with her husband, three kids, and the sweetest black dog. She loves helping expectant and new parents feel informed, confident, and supported from pregnancy through the early postpartum period through family-centered education and care.

Charla currently teaches childbirth and early parenting classes for Providence Hospitals and in her community. She also co-teaches the childbirth educator training course at the Simkin Center at Bastyr University, where she helps prepare new educators with strong facilitation skills, clear teaching strategies, and practical classroom tools. With a background in public health, research, and evaluation, she enjoys turning evidence into fun, practical, accessible learning for families, educators, and care teams.
