Abstract: Maternal and infant mortalities are still a public health burden, even in the United States. Besides the mortality rates being higher among populations of color, health disparities among Black nonHispanic and White non-Hispanic populations are also present. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has been working on a new initiative to address this issue by proposing new plans including regional town hall meetings in Michigan to develop a new health improvement plan as part of the Mother and Infant Health Awareness campaign.
