President Elect
Responsible to: ICEA President and Board of Directors
Purpose of job: To prepare for the term of ICEA President
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one term on the ICEA Board of Directors prior to becoming President-Elect
- Ability to accept responsibility for decisions affecting ICEA
- Ability to supervise volunteer workers
- Long range planning ability and experience
- Ability to maintain view of ICEA, while dealing with details of all ICEA programs and services
- See the ICEA Bylaws, Article IV, Section 2 for further details on qualifications of the members of the ICEA Board of Directors
Major areas of responsibility:
- Works in conjunction with other board members on oversight, training, and renewal for IAT’s and IHT’s
- Participate on the Executive Committee
- Provide support and input to ICEA workers as required and requested
- Review content of ICEA publications and periodicals as requested by the President and other Board members
- Supervise the revision of ICEA job descriptions on even numbered years
- Serve as an ex officio member of all committees
- Assume duties of president in her absence
- Speak for and represent ICEA when needed
- Assume vacant positions as needed
- Respond to all Board/Committees/Management Company correspondence
Director of Marketing
- Long range planning ability and experience
- Other qualifications as stated in the ICEA Bylaws, Article IV, Section 2
- Chair the Marketing Committee
- Work with management company of ICEA to secure advertisers for ICEA publications
- Promote and market ICEA to other organizations as well as to the membership
- Work with the Director of Conferences to plan and market upcoming conventions
- Oversee ICEA publications including, but not limited to:
- Website, Newsletter, Social Media, and Blog
- Awards
Director of Public Policy
Responsible to: ICEA Board of Directors
Purpose of job: Assist with communications and publications of ICEA. Manage public policy for ICEA regarding pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and the immediate postpartum period
Qualifications:
- Editing and reviewing skills
- Keep current on policies from birth related topics from organizations such as ACOG, AWHONN, IMBCO, Lamaze International, DONA International, ILCA, USLCA, PSI,APPPAH,US Breastfeeding Committee, etc
- Ability to accept responsibility for decisions affecting ICEA
- Ability to supervise volunteer workers
- Ability to maintain view of ICEA as a whole while dealing with details of all ICEA programs and services
- Other qualifications as stated in the ICEA Bylaws, Article IV, Section 2
Major areas of responsibility:
- Reviews Position Papers at least every two years
- Supports the mission, policies, and programs of the organization as adopted by the Board
- Provides the BOD and the membership with updates on breastfeeding (research and science), the WHO code and products related to breastfeeding
- Takes on projects related to public policy, as directed by the President or Board
- Chair the Communications Committee and Public Policy Committee
- Oversee International Journal of Childbirth Education
- Propose authors and/or illustrators to the committee
- Review publications and media to ensure compliance with ICEA’s philosophy and mission, as well as the WHO Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes
- Work with the Management Company to secure advertisers for ICEA publications
Director of Childbirth Education
Responsible to: ICEA Board of Directors
Purpose of job: Monitor the implementation and revision of doula educational programs
Qualifications: Knowledge of adult education principles; hold certification in at least one ICEA program; other qualifications as stated in the ICEA Bylaws, Article IV, Section 2
Major areas of responsibility:
- Chair the Childbirth Education Committee
- Create and maintain a list of all committee members
- Oversees the development and content of the Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula + 1,000 Days programs
- Assist with the development of policy for doula programs and approve any exceptions to the established policy
- Facilitate the development and updating of educational services and contact hours
- Set agenda for committee meeting
- Assist with new certification and certificate programs
- Webinar Committee member
Director of International Relations
Responsible to: ICEA Board of Directors
Purpose of job: Support ICEA members located outside of the continental states. Develop and coordinate international programs
Qualifications: See qualifications as stated in the ICEA Bylaws, Article IV, Section 2
Major areas of responsibility:
- Chair International Relations Committee
- Communicate with international members to define needs and identify resources.
- Develop programs to increase worldwide ICEA presence
- Promote international membership and training
- May seek funding from international health organizations
- Define and request resources needed from ICEA
- Oversee International Teaching Partners
- International Teaching Partners (ITPs) are groups or individuals which share common philosophy and goals with ICEA
- Adhere to the mission and philosophy of ICEA
- Support educators and healthcare professionals who believe in freedom to make decisions based on knowledge of alternatives and family centered maternity and newborn care
- Foster regional, national, and international recognition and support of ICEA certification programs
- Adhere to the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes and all subsequent relevant WHO resolutions (International Code)
- Maintaining organizational autonomy and mutual respect
- Work with President Elect overseeing international IATs
Director-at-large
Responsible to: ICEA Board of Directors
Purpose of job: Provides support for programs and functions of ICEA at the discretion of the President and President-Elect
Qualifications:
