Educating the Educator / Approved Trainer (IAT) Program

Are you a passionate ICEA Certified Childbirth Educator, Doula, or Postpartum Educator?  Become an ICEA Approved Trainer leading workshops and mentoring childbirth professionals.
 

Register for the Educating the Educator program and begin the process to become an ICEA Trainer with the ability to hold ICEA training workshops in your area and around the globe!

 

Steps to Become an ICEA Approved Trainer (IAT)

  1. Applicant will submit a resume, application form, payment of $450.00, and committment agreement to the ICEA Main Office. Payments will only be processed if the applicant is approved by the ICEA Board of Directors.
  2. Applicant must study and review the IAT PowerPoint (to be posted soon).
  3. If all qualifications are met, members of the current ICEA Board of Directors will review the applicant's qualifications and arrange a conference/interview phone call for a question and answer session.
  4. Following the call, the Board of Directors will put the applicant's approval to a vote and notify the candidate of their decision.

 

Qualifications to Become an IAT

  1. Maintains continuous ICEA Membership
  2. Supports the ICEA Philosophy
  3. Attends the ICEA workshop(s) they will be teaching
  4. Maintains ICEA certification in program(s) they will be teaching (minimum of 3 years)
  5. Willingness and ability to teach at least one (1) ICEA Workshop a year
  6. Attends the ICEA Convention at least once every 3 years

 

Re-Approval of ICEA Approved Trainers

Applicant must reapply to the ICEA Board of Directors every three years ($100 fee)
Requirements for re-approval as ICEA Approved Trainer:

  1. Completed re-approval application with accompanying fees.
  2. Evidence of continuing membership in ICEA.
  3. Evidence of continuing active certification by ICEA in the area of the workshop(s) being taught (3 years min).
  4. List of names and contact information of all participants for each workshop(s) taught sent to the ICEA Administrative Office within two weeks of completion of workshop(s).
  5. Workshop(s) evaluations from all participants attending sent to ICEA Administrative Office within two weeks of completion of workshop(s).
  6. Submitted a yearly report to the ICEA Administrative Office
  7. A letter stating the IAT's desire to continue as an ICEA Approved Trainer.
