ICEA certification programs require ICEA membership. The purpose of maintaining ICEA membership is to expose candidates and those certified to ICEA’s goals and philosophy as expressed in the International Journal of Childbirth Education and to provide a means to keep candidates and those certified stay up-to-date on changes in childbirth and maternity care.
Candidates in the certification programs must maintain an individual membership. It is imperative that the membership be kept current. A membership lapse for any reason will result in disruption of the certification process.
If an individual membership has lapsed, it should immediately be renewed. At the time of renewal of membership, the renewal will be back dated automatically by ICEA so that there is no interruption in the membership. No membership benefits will be given for the time the membership was expired. If a certification is removed due to a lapsed membership, the certification can be reactivated with membership renewal.
